Great Australian Golf Courses
Great Australian Golf Destinations
If it's been designed by Greg Norman and owned by Ian Baker-Finch then it must be good! This is the claim to fame of The Glades Golf Club at Robina on the Gold Coast. The golf course at The Glades is regarded as one of the most spectacular, innovative and exciting golf courses in Australia.
It's also commonly regarded as one of the toughest courses in Australia, but some say Norman has cleverly designed the course to look more difficult than it is to play. You'll need to tackle the 99 bunkers over 18 holes to discover how intensely your game is put to the test.
The Glades golf course is a par 72 course, and stretches over 6420 metres on 65 hectares of undulating land. Remember to admire the 'Tropical Bent' grass on the greens, which was specifically designed for The Glades.
The course opened in 2001 after being transformed from a flat, flood-prone site to its current state of glory. You'll particularly appreciate this transformation for the variety of native and rare bird life the development's 9.1 hectares of wetlands attracts in different seasons.
The Glades at Robina is conveniently located 30 minutes from Coolangatta Airport and 20 minutes from Surfers Paradise. Broadbeach is also a close 10-minute drive away, where you can enjoy some of the Gold Coast's finest shopping, dining and surfing. A short 30-minute drive north along the Pacific Highway will deliver you to the front gates of Movie World, Dreamworld and Wet n' Wild theme parks.
